Samuel Ogilvie

President

Samuel Ogilvie is a senior Instrumental Music Education major from Iowa City, Iowa. His major instrument is trombone and his career goal is to teach high school band. In addition to Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Samuel is also involved in the UNI Guild of Carillonneurs, the Student Admissions Ambassadors, and the College Hill Conservatory.

Jason Andriano

Vice President

Jason Andriano is a junior Instrumental Music Education major with a Jazz emphasis from Waterloo, Iowa. During his time here at UNI he has been involved with numerous ensembles such as the Panther Marching Band, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and the Jazz Panthers. He is a substitute trombone player here at UNI. In his free time you can find him on a disc golf course.

Zachary Schroeder

Fraternal Education Officer

Zachary Schroeder is our Fraternal Education Officer. He is a trumpet player who has been involved with the Panther Marching Band. He is from Raymond Iowa, and is a computer science major here at UNI. He does a really mean Kermit the Frog impersonation.

Sam Anderson

Assistant Fraternal Education Officer

Sam Anderson grew up in the town of West Des Moines before hitting the road to college. He is in his junior year at the University of Northern Iowa studying Instrumental Music Education with a jazz emphasis. With trumpet being his primary instrument, Sam has had the opportunity to play in ensembles such as the Jazz Panthers, Symphonic Band, and the Panther Marching Band. He has also been a part of various jazz ensembles here at UNI. Music has played a large part in shaping Sam's life and continues his devotion into his major and Sinfonia in order to provide the exalting impact it has for all of us. Same enjoys dancing, fishing, swimming, and most importantly hanging with the brothers.

Michael Beaumont

Michael Beaumont is a senior Finance major from Iowa City. He has been involved with the Panther Marching band, concert band, a Beta Nu jazz band "Swingfonia", the Varsity Men's Glee Club, and plays trombone. He is also the former wing master.

Joseph Morris IV

Province Delegate

Joseph Morris IV is a junior Music- Performing Arts Management major at UNI. He hails from the ole Missippi River town of Burlington, Iowa. Joseph plays the euphonium and has participated in Panther Marching Band (PMB), Symphonic Band, and UNI Tuba here at UNI. Joseph enjoys driving really fast... in Mario Kart and whipping up some mean seafood.

Jacob Smith

Historian

Jacob Smith is a sophomore here at UNI. A Marketing and Economics major from Johnston, Iowa. Jacob has been a member of the Panther Marching Band and the Glee Club. He has also been a part of the UNI bowling club and has competed at events for the team.

Alan Beving

Music Director

Alan Beving is a Junior instrumental music education major. He is from Hartley, IA and graduated from Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High School. He is currently involved in the Varsity Men’s Glee Club and UNITUBA ensembles at UNI. In past years he has played with the Panther Marching Band and UNI Symphonic Band. Aside from being a brother of Phi Mu Alpha, Alan is also a member of the UNI Carillonneurs’ Guild. He studies piano under Dr. Vakhtang Kodanashvili and tuba under Dr. Jesse Orth.

Paul Lichty

Alumni Relations Officer

For Paul's full bio check it out on his website! paullichtymusic.com Paul Lichty recently graduated with a degree in instrumental music education with a jazz emphasis from University of Northern Iowa. He has studied trombone with Dr. Anthony Williams and Dr. Chris Buckholz and jazz composition with Christopher Merz and Dr. Robert Washut. He has performed with UNI Jazz Band One, Northern Iowa Wind Symphony, Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra, UNI Jazz Panthers, Panther Marching Band, “Biscotti Brass” brass quintet, UNI Jazz Slides, UNI Trombone Choir, and various other chamber ensembles. Additionally, Paul has also performed with the Waterloo and Cedar Falls municipal bands, the “Don’t Quit Your Day Job” Big Band, the Bill Shepherd Big Band, the local cover band “Goose Town”, and the Cooper Smoke Trials. His professional affiliations include Iowa Bandmaster’s Association, International Trombone Association, International Society of Jazz Arrangers and Composers, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia - Beta Nu Chapter. Paul’s involvement in Phi Mu Alpha included serving as chapter president (2016), Tallcorn Jazz Festival coordinator (2014-2016), and co-director of the Beta Nu Big Band (2013-2015). He currently serves as their alumni relations officer.
